It hasn't been that long,

that the cold of winter was closely associated with hunger, suffering, illness and death. Today, we often forget what carnival originally was: a joyful dance that tries to make us forget the most primal of all fears for a short time - the fear of death. And only life in its most concentrated form can do this: Dancing, singing, mumming, a dance of fantasy and exuberance, a celebration of thanks to the winter that has been survived and is behind us.
